The International Ecotourism Society- KZ - Go Green: A Resource Guide
The Basics:
Title: The International Ecotourism Society
Author: The International Ecotourism Society
URL: http://www.ecotourism.org
Date: 2007

Notes:
At a Glance: The International Ecotourism Society is a membership-based organization that is committed to "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people." Members receive newsletters and other publications, access to lists and resources, and discounts on books, merchandise, admission to events, etc. The homepage for TIES offers resources, definitions, facts, news, and forums for the curious.

Best for: People who want to promote ecotourism, either by practicing it themselves, giving financially, or creating awareness. It is also a good place to get basic definitions and facts.

Standout Features:
The business forum is a good community feature, and it is a very good place to find eco-trips. TIES has a "Travel Choice" feature which allows users to search for a travel operator or agent, lodge or hotel, and transportation services. All of the returned results are TIES members who have signed a Code of Conduct which states that they follow the guidelines of responsible eco-travel.

Keep in Mind: It is not clear what type of organization TIES is. There are a lot of advertisements on the site, although the site itself is very professional and offers contact info on every page. The Code of Conduct is also vague, and may be interpreted many ways, so it might be smart to look further into the organizations or destinations that are suggested.
