There are numerous ways to use this wiki to gather information about green practices and steps you can take to go, and stay, green. You can:
- Search for a particular keyword, in the search field at the top left of the page. This is helpful if you have an idea of what you're trying to find; for example, you can search for a tag (e.g., Travel & Transportation), an organization name (National Geographic), or a concept (vegetarianism).
- Browse through the resources, by going to the Alphabetical List of Resources in the navigation tree (where resources are listed by name). This is a great way to happen upon a resource you may otherwise overlook. Already know the particular area of going green that interests you? You can also browse by going to the Categories of Resources (where you'll find links to categories such as Eating, Arts & Entertainment and Energy & Efficiency).By clicking a category link, you will be able to view a list of all resources that were labeled (tagged) with a given subject. When visiting a specific resource page you'll also see its Keyword Tags (which serve as links) in the yellow box at the bottom of the page. Another way to browse is by clicking on a contributor's profile; on his or her personal page you'll see the resources each has written up, and in many cases, the reasoning behind choosing to feature those particular resources. You can find contributor profile pages in the box to the left or by clicking on the link following Suggested By:, located at the bottom of each resource page.
- Use a Guide designed for a particular topic or level of knowledge/expertise. The Quick Hit guides offer a way to access a few useful resources geared towards a particular user, for example, someone new to the green scene, or a homeowner, or a business traveler looking to lessen her impact on the earth.
- Check the Calendar for upcoming events and special dates concerning environmental issues. Sure, everyone knows Earth Day is April 22, but on the environmental calendar you can find out about other, perhaps less well-known days that are also important in the quest for going green.
