Title: Green Corps
Author: Green Corps: Field School for Environmental Organizing

Date: Organization started in 1992

Notes:
At a Glance: In 1992, Green Corps and its Environmental Leadership Training Program were started with the help of legendary environmental activists David Brower, Cesar Chavez, and Lois Gibbs. Green Corps believes that public education campaigns and grassroots organizing efforts are needed to support the next generation of environmental activists and leaders. Green Corps' mission is to teach the next generation of environmental leaders the strategies and skills they'll need to win tomorrow's environmental battles while providing critical field support for today's pressing environmental problems. Through partnerships with 75 environmental organizations, Green Corps organizers have provided critical field support to more than 100 campaigns, winning dozens of significant victories in conservation, corporate accountability, and public health.

Best for: People with time who are devoted to environmental advocacy: Green Corps' one-year, full-time, paid Environmental Leadership Training Program includes intensive classroom training, hands-on field experience running urgent environmental and public health campaigns, and career placement in permanent positions with leading environmental groups.

Standout Features: Alumni and organizer profiles allow you to read up on some of the people who are currently enrolled in the program and who have graduated from the program. The Newsroom page has published newspaper articles on how program alumni are making a difference and the Campaign Victories section is inspiring in showing how grassroots efforts can make a significant change to benefit the environment.

Keep in Mind: While this site contains informational content, the primary purpose is for recruitment to the Environmental Leadership Training Program and so sometimes the text can be haughty: “Green Corps graduates aspire to be among the leaders of the next generation that create a greener and more sustainable future for our communities and world.”
