| The Basics: Title: Climate Change: What You Can Do Author: The Nature Conservancy URL:http://www.nature.org/initiatives/climatechange/activities/art19630.html Date: Copyright 2007. Notes: At a Glance: The goal of this resource is to offer people concrete suggestions for helping save the climate. The nine tips range from changing travel and transportation habits to recycling to lowering the thermostat setting in a home. The tips also include estimated carbon savings if those behaviors are enacted. Best for: This handy list of tips is great for people looking to start combating climate change in their daily lives. The suggestions are concrete and can be easily implemented, which makes them suitable for people with busy lives, or those people not sure of what behaviors they should change. Standout Features: The simplicity of the tips and the estimated impact each tip will produce are great reasons to utilize the resource. Also the tips cover a variety of spheres, so at least one tip should be relevant to the average individual. Keep in Mind: The list is compiled by The Nature Conservancy, a non-profit conservation organization. All of the tips are based on the recommendations of Patrick Gonzalez, a climate change scientist who works for The Nature Conservancy and serves on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore. The Nature Conservancy is a Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Accredited Charity, meaning it meets standards for charity accountability. It also discloses its annual reports and financial statements in order to provide transparency for its conduct and actions. Suggested by: rcasper |
