Notes:
At a Glance: Building Green TV show was developed and produced for PBS by professional builder, Kevin Conrteras. The first season was devoted to the steps he took to design and build his own "green dream home", and to show that living green does not mean "doing without". Each episode highlights a particular step in the process, from choosing materials, to plumbing, to finishing details like closet design. The website features episode summaries, video clips, an official blog, and a section for users to participate. It also has a small aggregator of green blogs, and links to green resources and products.

Best for: Home owners and contractors interested in seeing the possibilities for constructing a new, environmentally friendly home.

Standout Features: The television show offers people casually interested in green living a way to learn about some of the possibilities out there without doing extensive, textual research. It also provides visual, step-by-step instruction for those who want to try some of the techniques for themselves.

The official blog highlights up-and-coming technologies and the more interesting/relevant user contributions. "The Workshop" takes the best of the blog entries and puts them in one central location, with the ability to search by keyword.

All episode summaries contain video clips of the more instructive segments of the show.

Keep in Mind: Kevin Contreras is a professional builder, which may skew his perspective away from the consumer. On the other hand, he is building the house for himself. The board of advisors is largely made up executives for magazines and firms in architecture and real estate. The show, and website, are sponsored by environmentally friendly companies such as Burt's Bees and the Sierra Club.
