About Me :

I am a fanatically obsessive reader (of everything), a political/ gossip junkie , an encyclopedia of random facts, a lover of libraries and art and history museums,a dreamer and a traveler. I am a member of Go Green:A Resource Guide because it is a class project. Also, I want to learn more about green challenges that the world is facing today. I believe that all of us can make a difference, even if it's only in a small way. Below are six websites that can get you started on the road to a greener future today !

Scope:

My criteria for choosing my six websites was that they all must be comprehensive resources that enable users to be green in multiple areas in their lives. I wanted six green websites that had all of these four components: (1) targeted towards the mainstream consumer, (2) be comprehensive on a wide range of topics, (3) have content that is informative and relatively jargon-free and (4) be aesthetically pleasing. I wanted six websites that gave users accurate information about our current environmental crisis, but which emphasized solutions and not just the problems.

1. TreeHugger

Link # 1

I picked TreeHugger because it fit my selection criteria and because I enjoyed its young and stylish approach to website design and environmental issues. In addition, I like how the website was comfortable using newer technology and had a job board. I think TreeHugger is successful at reaching-out to people under 30 years of age, because unlike many other websites it makes green issues not only socially responsible but also cool.

2. The Green Life

Link # 2

I picked The Green Life because it fit my selection criteria and similar to TreeHugger it is successful at making green issues trendy.

3. GreenerChoices.org

Link # 3

I picked GreenerChoices.org because it fit my selection criteria and because I liked that the website was not commercial but was still consumer friendly. Consumers Union, reputation for rigorously testing products and for objectivity also helped me to pick this website.

4. National Geographic-Environment

Link # 4

I picked National Geographic’s Environment section because it fit my selection criteria and because it had the best nature images of any green website I visited. The National Geographic website, also had information on global warming, natural disasters and animal habitats.

5. Green Living Ideas

Link # 5

I picked Green Living Ideas because it fit my selection criteria and because it has many articles on green issues relating to health and fitness and to the household.

6. Green Living Online

Link # 6

I picked Green Living Online because it fit my selection criteria and because I enjoyed the “Enviro Hero” section, which highlights a person doing something good for the environment and its “Our World” section, which has global environmental news. In addition, I liked the links to the Green Living Show website (the Green Living Show is a large consumer green show in Canada) which has information and photographs about some of the latest green products.
