Last spring, I happened upon the website for the Offsite 2007 exhibition in Watford, England. The exhibit showcased many of the newest technologies for sustainable home building, in response to the UK's new regulations for new-home energy consumption. Many of the model buildings have a carbon output close to zero, and it made me very curious about what could be done with our own, already existing homes to reduce their carbon footprint. For this reason, I chose sources (mostly electronic, with a few multimedia) that offer advice for updating homes to be more green. The advice ranges from mild (weather sealing the house) to extreme (tearing down a house and reusing the materials to build an entirely new one). I've also included a couple extreme examples of sustainability in the building industry.
